Sophos antivirus is not updating
If you don't know how to tell how much memory your computer has, we've created a 1 page PDF to show you. Once a help ticket is generated, you may be asked to send this file to your technician.
The IT Support Center will work with you to resolve this issue so you can install Sophos.
This upgrade will not affect computers that use a departmental update server.
Should you require assistance please contact the 24/7 IT Support Center at (520) 626-TECH (8324) or Submit a UAssist Support Request The University of Arizona purchased an unlimited site license for Sophos anti-virus server and workstation software provided by Sophos, Incorporated.
Right clicking and selecting "Update Now" causes a window to show that states "Downloading Package 1 of 4...2 of 4...3 of 4...4 of 4" then it shows "Intalling Package 1 of 1" then it just quits. Thanks Clear the temp directory (delete all the files %temp%) and do the update again.
Part of the licensing agreement requires that the Uof R have reasonable controls in place to ensure that only authorized people use this product.
Re-distribution of the installer or other licensed Sophos files electronically or via physical media (such as recordable CDs) is not allowed.
There is no requirement for the general VCU community to upgrade to the new version of Sophos using the manual process. The most common reason this might happen is if you have another anti-virus program installed that you did not remove.
For those who wish to wait, we plan to schedule an automatic upgrade through Sophos. First, look on your control panel to see if there's another anti-virus program, uninstall it, and try to install Sophos AV again.
Authorized users will always be able to download the latest version of the SAV software onto the target system directly from Computing Services' highly available servers.
